Generex Biotechnology (GNBT) has a revolutionary drug delivery device that looks like, but does not act like, an inhaler. It administers large molecule drugs such as insulin through the cheek wall thus avoiding the complications of inhaled drugs. MNKD has a competing method that DOES get inhaled directly into the lungs which may cause problems for smokers and others with lung issues. Since GNBT device does not involve the lungs it does not cause lung cancer. Furthermore, GNBT's drug delivery device has the potential to be a platform device, meaning it can be used to administer a myriad of other drugs previously injected...think of the elderly and very young who have limited ability, good veins, and pain tolerance. MNKD is about 6 months ahead of GNBT but with what I believe is inferior technology and significantly greater risk. GNBT is supposed to release Phase III results either this quarter or next. They already have had excellent Phase II results. IF approved, the potential for this novel drug delivery device is tremendous since there are so many drugs that are injected because they must bypass the gastrointestinal tract. This device does without affecting the lungs. Obviously I am long. - Steven Wagner
