More Frequent Weigh-Ins Correlate with Greater Sustainable Weight Loss Print E-mail

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - November 04, 2016) - Weighing in at least four times a week correlates with greater weight loss, according to data presented today at the Obesity Society's 4th Annual ObesityWeek 2016 Conference in New Orleans.

The research also revealed that a higher frequency of weigh-ins relates to individuals maintaining their weight loss two years later. These findings were presented by researchers from Retrofit, a leading provider of weight-management and disease-prevention programs.

Researchers investigated the association between self-weighing frequency at different levels of weight-loss at 6-months and weight maintenance at 24-months. They analyzed three years of data from 1,357 Retrofit clients, 44 percent of whom were male and 56 percent female. Researchers found that individuals with greater than 5 percent weight loss stepped on the scale, on average, more than four (4.11) times per week.
